Lorna Blaisse has been the CEO of Helium One for almost three years and is a Geologist by background and a skilled explorationist with over 18 years of oil and gas experience in Africa, including four years in the helium sector. Lorna has successfully led Helium One Global through its successful 2023/24 drilling programme in the southern Rukwa Basin in Tanzania, which delivered the highly significant Itumbula West-1 well that flowed up to 7.6% helium during the testing phase. The Company quickly advanced a feasibility study and applied for Tanzania’s first Mining Licence for helium, which was subsequently awarded earlier this year.
Lorna has also diversified the Company’s portfolio by acquiring a 50% stake in Blue Star Helium’s Galactica-Pegasus helium-CO2 project in Colorado, which will be fulfilling it’s first gas milestone at the end of this year. During her time at the company, she also supported Helium One Global’s acquisition of an onshore drilling rig that will accelerate and streamline the drilling program and the development of Tanzania’s helium sector.
Before joining Helium One, Blaisse held several senior geologist roles with Delonex Energy Ltd, African Petroleum Corp Ltd, and Tullow Oil plc, leading numerous exploration drilling campaigns in East and Central Africa through her extensive geological knowledge of the East Africa Rift System.
